About
Professor Edward Gregson’s music for Brass Band needs no introduction, yet despite this being the seventh volume exclusively dedicated to his works released on the Doyen label, it is full of beautiful surprises.
Chronicling the full extent of his time writing for the medium, ranging from the wonderful Concertante for Piano and Band written in 1966 right through to the 2022 British Open test piece The World Rejoicing this release really shows the composer’s understanding of the brass band.
Featuring virtuoso pianist Jonathan Scott and International euphonium star David Childs alongside the always staggering Black Dyke Band, do not miss this stunning album

“… I cannot fault anything about this disc. It is redundant to note the Black Dyke Band’s superlative playing. The soloists are masters of their art. The liner notes are exemplary. I look forward to further volumes in this series of Edward Gregson’s brass band music.”
